The White Sands
The White Sands
It was a cold winter morning. Me and my parents were heading toward a place called the White Sands. The name filled me with wonder. Could a sand ever be white? As I was thinking about the White Sands, we arrived at the White Sands national park guide center. That was a place where we could burrow sleighs, buy White Sands goods, and even food! My parents borrowed 3 sleighs and got us some maps of the White Sands. After that, me and my parents loaded our sleighs into the trunk and we were off to the White Sands. I saw a patch of white glinting in the sunlight faraway, as we neared the White Sands. I started to quiver with excitement. 10 minutes later….
I stepped out of my car, to see hills and hills of pure white sands in front of me. I had finally arrived at the White Sands! I jumped up and down with excitement. My parents also looked excited too. As I slowly walked through the White Sands, I felt like there was something different about it. I ran my fingers through the sand slowly. It felt powdery like flour, and soft as a pillow. It also felt precious. Too precious to even touch. It was warm. It felt so warm for a winter morning. Man, could this sand ever be more amazing? Me and my parents did some exploring a bit, then we got out our sleighs so we could sleigh down the hills of white sands. I went first. I placed the sleigh on the top of the hill and sat slowly on the sleigh. I felt the blazing sun on my head as I took a deep breath and pushed the sleigh with all my might. It felt like time slowed down. I felt my breath getting fast as I started to soar down the hill. I felt the wind pressing against my body and heard the wind screaming in my ears. My eyes got watery and my heart started to pound really fast. I felt like nothing could stop me. I swooshed down the hill and lurched to a stop. My heart was pounding against my head. My blood felt so electric! Man, that felt awesome! My parents were cheering and clapping for me from the top of the hill. I started to climb up the hill. But it was so hard! I kept sliding down the hill each time I took a step. After 5 exhausting minutes, I finally climbed up the hill. I was exhausted, but I was ready to have more fun. Me and my parents spent the whole morning and afternoon playing with the sleigh. At the end of the day, me and my parents saw a beautiful sunset. It reflected against the sand turning it orangish-yellow. I was exhausted but I was still quivering with happiness. I felt like it was the best day of my life!!! I wished that there was more time to spend at the White Sands, but I promised myself that one day, I will come back here again!
The End
